One of the two Ranji Trophy matches, scheduled to be held at Keenan Stadium here, has been shifted to Jealgora stadium in Dhanbad, Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) functionary today said.

The match between Jharkhand and Tripura, which was slated to be held at Keenan stadium here from December 21 to 24, is shifted to Jealgora stadium in Dhanbad, said JSCA Secretary Rajesh Verma.

Besides Jharkhand-Tripura tie, Keenan was also a venue for another encounter between the Services and hosts Jharkhand from February 6-9, Verma said.

About the reason behind shifting the venue for Group C league phase match between Jharkhand-Tripura only few days before its commencement, Verma said the stadium was already booked for a cricket tournament of Parsi community.

As we did not have any alternative venue as per the set standard of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to host a Ranji Trophy Match in the steel city here, we have decided to shift it to Dhanbad, he said.

Meanwhile, the decision has disappointed the cricket lovers, who have been deprived of witnessing a first class match.

Earlier, Keenan had hosted about a dozen ODIs in the past but ever since the new JSCA International Stadium came up in Ranchi, all the ODIs and IPL matches are being organized there.
