KG Foundation awards presented

K G Foundation here today conferred the "Dynamic Indian of the Millennium Awards" on eight eminent personalities in their respective fields.

The awardees included two persons from overseas -- Athimoolam Naidu, Chairman, Augustan Group of Companies, Illinois, USA and Ragavan Dandapany, Vice-President (Sales and Marketing) Computed Tomography, Siemens Ag, Gemany, foundation Chairman Dr G Bhakthavatsalam said.

Other awardees are: R Vijayakumar, Managing Trustee, SNR Sons Charitable Trust, Coimbatore, Prof and HOD, CU Shah Medical College, Gujarat, and Ilangovan Veerappan, Chief Nephrologist, K G Hospital, Coimbatore, Kamal D Shah, VIkram Vuppula and Sandeep Gudibanda, co-founders of Hyderabad based Nephroplus, working in the field of kidney-related diseases.
 

Prof.D Shantharam, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical Univeresity, another awardee, could not come due to ill health, he said.

Past recipients of the award include former President A P J Abdul Kalam and Dr Christian Barnard, famous heart plant surgeon of South Africa.

The foundation, running a multi-speciality hospital, educational institutions, including a Post-Graduate Medical Institute, in the district was giving the award to the achievers, which was a motivating factor for the world achievers and aspiring achievers, Bhakthavatsalam said.
