Election to two autonomous district councils in Meghalaya will be held on February 27, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, said Friday.
The district councils are the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and the Jaitia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), Tynsong said.

The district council affairs department sends a proposal on holding of the council poll to the state government, following which it is announced by the state government.
The counting of votes will be held on March 2 next.
The deputy chief minister said that a notification for the election will be issued on February 2 and the model code of conduct will also come into force from that day itself.
