The subsidy for Bihar in the 12th plan period would be approximately Rs 300 crore as compared to Rs 147 crore in the 11th Five Year Plan period, Desai said after inaugurating the Rashtriya Gramudyog Mahotsav here.

Desai said that to make khadi trendy, the KVIC has entered into an agreement with the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad and IIT Delhi.

KVIC Chief Executive Officer Uday Pratap Singh said out of its Rs 22,000 crore business, the share of Bihar was Rs 350 crore which was about 3.5 per cent of the total business.

He expressed hope that the share would go up to 5 per cent in the 12th Five Year Plan.

Highlighting greater usage of khadi, Singh said even Fabindia, an export house for Indian hand woven textiles, used khadi clothes.
