Shiromani Akali Dal president Sukhbir Singh Badal today said the result of the upcoming bypoll to the Khadoor Sahib assembly seat would prove to be the "last nail in the coffin of Congress".
The seat fell vacant after Congress MLA Ramanjit Singh Sikki resigned from the assembly in protest against the incidents of sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib. However, the Election Commission has not yet announced a date for the by-poll.
Badal said the people of Punjab would pick SAD-BJP combine government over Congress, "which is embroiled in its own internal power struggles".

Interacting with party office bearers of Patiala, Roopnagar, SAS Nagar and Fatehgarh Sahib, he said the electoral battle had begun in the state and the side striking first would be the winner.
The rally would be the biggest till date and would shake the foundations of Moti Mahal (the residence of former chief minister Amarinder Singh), he said.
SAD's rally coincides with Amarinder's coronation as PPCC chief at a Congress rally in Bathinda on December 15.
He said Congress owed a reply to the people of the state, alleging that innocent people were killed in fake encounters during dark days of terrorism.
Badal said forces inimical to Punjab should be shown the
door in the coming assembly elections.
He claimed the SAD-BJP coalition government has done yeoman's service by initiating welfare schemes and added that Congress has done the "most harm" to the state.
Badal said Congress' leader of opposition (Charanjit Singh Channi) was not able to showcase even a single achievement of the party during the recently concluded assembly budget session.
