A day before a volunteers' convention by Sukhpal Singh Khaira, Aam Aadmi Party MLA Harpal Singh Cheema alleged today that the event was being "sponsored" by the SAD-BJP, RSS.

Khaira, who was removed from the post of the Leader of Opposition in Punjab Assembly, and MLAs who are supporting him are organising the volunteers' convention at Bathinda tomorrow. The event is being seen as the show of strength of Khaira.

"Convention' to be held at Bathinda tomorrow is as an event sponsored by SAD-BJP-RSS and Bains brothers and has nothing to do with Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia and other leaders," Cheema, the newly-appointed Leader of Opposition, said in a statement here.

He said the use of photos and names of national leaders, MPs and MLAs on the posters, meant for the convention, was to "confuse" the AAP workers.

Terming the convention an "anti-Dalit" event, the AAP leader said, "The state as well as (the) national leadership must have welcomed the convention if it was scheduled to raise the voice of Dalits, farmers, unemployed and against mafias of every kind,"

Accusing the Bains brothers-led Lok Insaaf Party of trying to break the AAP, the Dirba MLA claimed that few leaders of the AAP were trying to "kill" their own party by allegedly coming under the influence of Simarjeet Singh Bains and Balwinder Singh Bains.
