The death toll in Khairabad road accident has risen to four with three more persons succumbing to their injuries while undergoing treatment, police said today.
Rani Devi died at the district hospital here and two minors, Choti and Seema, who were referred to KGMC Trauma Centre at Lucknow, also succumbed to their wounds, police said.
A 35-year-old woman, identified as Sushila, was yesterday evening killed and 10 others were injured after being hit by a truck in Binaura locality while crossing the National Highway-24, they said.
The women and children were on the highway to see off a fellow villager going for treatment at Lucknow.
The absconding driver, Amit, was arrested late yesterday night and booked under relevant sections of the IPC.
SP Sitapur Rajesh Krisna and Additional District Magistrate Sarvesh Dikshit visited hospital last night and assured the injured of all medical assistance.
