Table-topper Khalsa Warriors continued their invincible run, thrashing Lahore Lions by 64-55 in a high-voltage contest of the ongoing World Kabaddi League here today.

The Akshay Kumar co-owned, Khalsa Warriors started on a high note and continued their fine run throughout the first quarter. Some stiff challenge by Lions' defence led to a neck and neck battle but in the end the Warriors managed to lead 15-14 at the break.

With the Lions stepping up the gas, the competition went tough with every passing minute but star stopper Satnam Singh Sattu came up with seven successful stops to ensure the Warriors stay on course.

The warriors kept increasing the margin with every round as the Lions could not make a comeback despite putting up a good show.

Sattu was declared 'Man of the Match', while Gagandeep Singh, also from Khalsa Warriors, was declared 'Raider of the Match' for 18 successful raids.

"The match has been tough as Lahore Lions was a very challenging side. The fact that they have star players like Shafiq Ahmed Chisti added to the pressure. However, it's a big win and would help to improve our confidence for the upcoming matches," said Satnam.

It was a high-voltage encounter as from the very first minute the rivals started mocking each other and as time passed by, fisticuffs between the two escalated.

There was also a war of words in the second quarter between Rana Naeem Baabar of Lahore Lions and Gurpreet Singh Bath of Khalsa Warriors when after a bout, disputes arised out of referee's decision.

With this win, Khalsa Warriors retained their top position, while the Lions suffered their first defeat of the season.

The Warriors will next face Vancouver Lions in Ludhiana on September 6 and Lahore Lions will meet Punjab Thunder in the same venue on September 7.
