Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced a new scheme that would enable women labourers in the state become "self-reliant" and "employable".
Under this scheme, 50,000 women would be provided sewing machines free of cost, he said.
Apart from this, 50,000 solar lanterns would also be distributed free of cost to the women living in the slums which do not have the facility of electricity so as to illuminate their houses, the chief minister said.
Besides, a number of development projects to the tune of over Rs 150 crore were also announced by the chief minister.
He said that after the availability of sufficient number of doctors, a super speciality hospital would be constructed in Narwana.
Khattar said that various schemes were being implemented by the state government for all sections of the society.
"There are a total of 59 lakh families in the state and out of these, 53 lakh families have already been provided with the facility of LPG gas and the remaining six lakh families would soon be covered under this scheme," he said.
After this, Haryana would become a kerosene-free state, he added.
The Chief Minister stressed on the need for skill development of youth to make them employable.
He said that to ensure this, Haryana Vishwakarma University for Skill Development has been set up in Palwal in which 800 courses of one month to one year duration would be introduced.
Recently, the state government had got approval from the Centre for the construction of 12 new National Highways in Haryana and work on these would begin soon.
While referring to the Airport to be developed in Hisar, he said that construction in this direction would soon be started.
While describing strong road network as pivotal for the development of any country or state, he said that a superhighway from Delhi to Katra via Rohtak-Jind-Punjab would be constructed and with the construction of this, the distance from Delhi to Amritsar would be covered in just five hours.
He said that with a view to keep a check on black money and to eradicate corruption from the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi could take some more big decisions in the interest of the country after December 31.
The chief minister said that Modi has asked for support from public for 50 days for the implementation of his decision to demonetize high currency notes.
He said that even 40 days have not yet completed, but the long queues which were seen in the banks earlier have already started easing up.
He urged the people to adopt cashless transactions and said that the state government would also promote this mode of payment.
Khattar said that more than 10 per cent increase in cashless payments has so far been registered in the state.
