Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today announced a financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the family of Alwar lynching victim Rakbar alias Akbar Khan.

The chief minister announced the grant as Khan belonged to Kaul village near Ferozepur Jhirka of Nuh district in Haryana.

In addition to the financial assistance announced by the chief minister, Haryana Waqf Board Chairman Raheesha Khan has also announced an aid of Rs 3 lakh to his family, an official statement said here.

"Thus, a total of Rs 8 lakh would be provided as financial assistance by the government, the statement said, adding that Rakbar Khan is survived by his four daughters and three sons."

Khan, along with his friend Aslam, was taking cows to their villages in Haryana through a forest in the Ramgarh area of Alwar last week, when they were caught by a mob and assaulted.

Though Aslam had managed to flee, Rakbar succumbed to his injuries later.
