Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today emphasised the need for transformation of education system by developing an integrated system for coordination between government and private educational institutes so as to enhance access and quality of education to all.
Khattar said that a study has revealed that importance of private sector in primary education has increased, though government primary schools have majority in terms of infrastructure as compared to private schools yet private ones attracts more students.
"We have to change this trend by way of making better coordination among government and private schools," he said and expressed concern over two roles performed by private sector in higher education.
"On the one hand there are institutes that are imparting quality education and on the other side some are merely issuing certificates after getting affiliation," Khattar said, while addressing the State Level Consultative Meet on New Education Policy organised by Higher Education Department, a state government press release said.
Expressing concern about increasing cost of education, the Chief Minister suggested that provision of "no profit no loss" should be introduced in private education in the larger interest of society.
He also exhorted the educationists and academicians that besides holy Bhagwad Gita, they should also extract value based things from other sacred texts so that these could be introduced in school curriculum.
Khattar said that State government would also establish an Education University for improving the quality of existing pre-service teacher education in the state. The government is also setting up a Skill Development University in the state.
Keeping in view the shortage of doctors, he said that the state government has set a target to provide 2000 doctors every year.
Khattar also said Haryana would upload final draft of policy on Higher Education on website after its finalisation today.
The draft policy on Primary Education had already been uploaded by the State government, the release quoting him said here.
During the meet, he also agreed to a suggestion that "there should not be any politics in the field of education."
Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Vijai Vardhan, Member Haryana State Advisory Council Dina Nath Batra, Vice Chancellors of all State and Private Universities were present on the occasion.
