The opposition INLD today questioned the alleged double standard of the BJP government on the issue of appointment of the Chief Parliamentary Secretaries (CPS) in the State and hiking VAT on diesel.
"The appointment of CPSs and recent increase in VAT on diesel has shown the double standard of the BJP," Indian National Lok Dal MLA Abhay Singh Chautala, who is Leader of Opposition in the state assembly, said in a statement here.
Chautala further said that BJP "condemned" the appointment of CPSs by the previous Congress government in Haryana and the then Congress led Himachal Pradesh government in 2005.
"Now the Khattar government is misusing public money blatantly with the appointment of OSDs, advisors and CPSs.
"The BJP government in Haryana doesn't think twice in saying that the state is facing financial problems, but on the other hand it is spending crores of rupees of public money on appointing OSDs (Officer on Special Duty) and CPSs," he added.
Abhay Chautala also said that the BJP leaders were slamming Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of increasing VAT on diesel "but now, they are not saying anything as the Khattar government in Haryana did the same and put extra burden on the farmers of the state".
Continuing further, Chautala said "this proves the double standard of the BJP party and Khattar government in Haryana".
The INLD leader said that most of the part of the National Capital Region is under Haryana and increase in VAT on diesel will have adverse impact", with diesel still cheaper in Delhi.
Speaking about the appointments of the CPSs by the Khattar government yesterday, Chautala said that "the BJP had slammed previous Bhupinder Singh Hooda led Congress government in Haryana for appointing the CPSs, but now BJP leaders are mum as their own government has repeated the same.
