The Manohar Lal Khattar government today faced acute embarrassment in the assembly with some of the BJP MLAs seeking the status of the colleges, promised to be built in their constituencies by the Chief Minister.
The embarassment for the government aggarvated all the more as the ruling party MLAs joined the opposition ones to corner the government on apparently unfulfilled promises of the CM.
During the question hour in the ongoing budget session of Haryana Vidhan Sabha here, three BJP MLAs sought the status of the colleges which were to be built in their areas. The Chief Minister had himself made an announced in this regard.
After INLD MLA Zakir Hussain asked a question on proposal of the government to set up a university in Nuh district, BJP MLA from Rewari Randhir Kapriwas said the announcement of setting up college in Rewari, made by CM Khattar, has not been implemented yet.
"Two years back, CM made an announcement of setting up a college in Rewari. But Rewari did not figure in the list of 21 new colleges, the announcement of which was announced recently," Kapriwas pointed out while asserting that students living in Rewari had to seek admissions in colleges in Gurgaon, Delhi and Jaipur because of lack of colleges there.
The then BJP MLA from Narnaul Om Prakash Yadav asked the education minister about an announcement made by the CM for opening a college in his constituency.
Moolchand Sharma, BJP MLA from Ballabgarh in his supplementary question asked the minister about the status of announcement of college, made in 2015.
Replying to the questions of BJP MLAs, Education minister Ram Bilas Sharma said BJP government was sensitive towards girls' education.
Sharma said the matter relating to setting up colleges in Rewari, Ballabgarh and Mahendragarh was under consideration of the government, while asserting that BJP government was not like previous government which just made big announcements of opening colleges and universities without making provision about hiring staff.
Later, BJP MLA from Panchkula Gyan Chand Gupta sought a
reply from the government, about an announcement made to appoint a gynecologist, radiologist and physician in a dispensary at sector 16 in Panchkula.
When Health minister Anil Vij said there was no plan to hire specialist doctors in Panchkula, Gupta said poor patients were forced to avail health services from private nursing homes which exploited them.
Vij, meanwhile, said the state government has decided to expand the network of dialysis centres in the state so as to provide the facility to the patients at an affordable price.
Vij said while dialysis centers have initially been opened in four districs of Panchkula, Gurugram, Jind and Sirsa on Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode, such centres would also be opened in ten more district hospitals.
These include Ambala, Bhiwani, Rewari, Panipat, Sonipat, Faridabad, Hisar, Yamunanagar, Jhajjar and Bahadurgarh. "We will try to open the dialysis centres in all districts in the state, he added.
Vij said the department has already signed agreements to open these centres. The patient will have to pay only Rs 959 for each dialysis as against Rs 2,000 to Rs 3,000 being charged for the same in market.
He said that Civil Hospital, Panchkula had got accreditation from National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers and was awarded "swachhta puraskar" for the second consecutive time.
It has the facility of 200 beds which would also be increased. Cath labs have also been set up in four districts, he added.
