Khattar wants military school at Jhajjar

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today said buoyed by the enthusiasm of youth for joining armed forces, he has written to the Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar regarding long pending demand of opening a military school at Matanhail in Jhajjar.

Besides, the state government would provide every possible help to increase the facilities being provided at Sainik School in Kunjpura and Rewari, Khattar said.

The Chief Minister made this comment while addressing a gathering after inaugurating 'Ashray' senior army veterans' home at Panchkula, said an official release here.

Chief of Army staff, General Dalbir Singh, was the guest of honour. He graced the occasion along with his wife Namita Suhag.
 

The chief minister said that every tenth soldier in the Armed Forces is from Haryana and looking at the spirit among youths to join Defence Services, special efforts would be made for new recruitments.

He also informed that recently the nutrition allowance of students in Sainik School Kunjpura and Rewari has been increased to Rs 75 from Rs 25. Besides this, the scholarship given by the state government to students has been doubled.

The state government has increased the ex-gratia and compensation amount given to the family of soldiers, who gets killed or disabled while fighting terrorist-related activities.

The compensation amount has been increased from Rs one lakh to Rs 15 lakh depending upon the percentage of disability, the CM said.

Similarly, ex-gratia amount given for death during war has been increased from Rs two lakh to Rs 20 lakh.

In case of death or disability during IED blast, the amount of compensation has been increased from Rs one lakh to Rs 15 lakh on the basis of percentage of disability.

The CM appreciated the efforts of opening 'Ashray' Senior Veterans' Home by the officers of Western Command in Panchkula.

He said such homes should be open wherever there is need or requirement.

Khattar assured complete support of the Haryana government in providing every possible help in this direction.
