Kanpur district administration is mulling roping in Indian cricket skipper Virat Kholi and actresses of Dangal movie to motivate young electors to exercise their franchise in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

"Indian skipper and Dangal actresses Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, who played characters of Phogat sisters -- Geeta and Babita -- will be requested to appeal voters through a two minute recording that will broadcast on FM channels," Kanpur District Magistrate Kaushal Raj said.

The aim is to increase voter turnout in the upcoming polls. It was 54 per cent in the 2012 Assembly polls. The turnout of young voters was very less last time, he said.

The administration here feels Kholi, who has a huge fan following among youngsters, will be apt to woo the youth to vote in large numbers, an official said.

Kholi will be in Kanpur from January 23 to 27 for the India-England T-20 match. He would be requested to appeal voters through a two minute recording, he said.

The official said a letter to seek permission for the recording and using Kholi's picture in promotional banners and posters will be sent to the BCCI.

Raj said that during the match spectators will be given T-Shirts, caps and brochures as part of an awareness campaign by the administration.
