BJP national spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain today termed Congress leader Salman Khurshid's statement, that "there is blood on our hands" as a

"kaboolnama" of the Congress.

"Salman Khurshid's statement that 'Congress has blood of Muslims on its hands' is basically a kaboolnama (confession) of the Congress Party," said Hussain, speaking to reporters here.

He further alleged that "most riots in India" happened under the Congress rule, adding that the party's "divide and rule" politics had been exposed time and again.

"Rahul Gandhi and the Congress should apologise to the nation," Hussain said.

He added the Congress was "strategically involved" in all the major riots that had taken place in the country.

"The stains of these riots will not be washed away easily," Hussain said.

Khurshid had made the statement on Sunday while replying to a query from a Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) student about how the Congress will wash off the blood stains of Muslims on its hands.

Khurshid had said, "It is a political question. There is blood on our hands. I am also a part of the Congress so let me say it, we have blood on our hands. Is this why you are trying to tell us that if someone attacks you, we must not come forward to protect you?"

"I am telling you. We are ready to show the blood on our hands so that you realise that you too must not get blood on your hands. If you attack them, you are the ones who would get stains on your hands," he said at an AMU event on Sunday.
