Lavanya, who shares a close bond with her younger sister, thought that her sister's in-laws would harass her for giving birth to girls once again.
"The doctors had told that one of the twin girls was suffering from ill health and Lavanya gave the baby girl to an organisation. She lied to her sister's in-laws that one of the twins is a boy, but has serious health problems and is undergoing treatment," police said.
"She then started preparing to adopt a baby boy. However, about a week ago, one Parveen put forth a plan to kidnap the son of one Bhagya, for which Lavanya agreed to give Rs 10,000 to them (those involved in the plan). As per the plan, when Bhagya was sleeping along with her son on the footpath, the accused lifted the child and handed him over to Lavanya and Raju," they said.S
Following a complaint, Nampally Police registered a kidnapping case and two Special Teams were formed to trace the kidnapped child.
The special teams examined the CCTV footages and clinched vital clues. During the investigation, identity of one of the offenders was established. After that accused was taken into custody, other offenders were identified and caught, police said.
The baby was rescued and handed over to his mother, police added.
