A ten-year-old boy, who was kidnapped from Wazirpur Industrial Area in northwest Delhi, was rescued and the three alleged kidnappers were arrested from Roorkee near Haridwar, police said today.

The incident was reported to Ashok Nagar police station by his father Mohammad Farid on March 28 following which police registered a case in this regard.

"Next day Farid received a call on his mobile phone and the caller told him that his boy Vashid was with him and he can take him from Shastri Park after paying Rs 2 lakh as ransom. A police team went to Shastri Park but nothing was found there," said DCP (North West) N Gnan Sambandan.

Another call was received that the boy was in Saharanpur. The police team raided several places in Saharanpur, Haridwar and Bijnor but the kidnapped boy could not be recovered, he said.

Farid received yet another call from the kidnappers asking him to reach Roorkee bus stand. The police laid a trap and arrested Adil Khalid (22) who came on a bike to collect money.

On his interrogation, police later arrested another abductor Adil Ahmed (22) from whom the cell phone used for making ransom call was also recovered.

He told the police that mastermind of the kidnapping of the boy was one Riyaz (30) who was staying at Jwalapur Mandi near Haridwar from where he was later arrested.

"The boy was later found at the house of an old woman in Tanda Mai Dass village in Nagina," he added.
