A class XI student, who was allegedly kidnapped on March 13, remained untraceable even as police teams continued their search for him, officials said today.
Jitender Yadav (16) went missing on last Wednesday from near his residence in Sector 70. The next day an unknown person received his mobile phone and demanded Rs one crore ransom for his release, DSP Vishwajit Srivastava said here.
After some negotiations with the family, the ransom amount was later reduced to Rs 50 lakh, he added.

Interestingly, Jitender's Facebook page had been updated on the day the kidnappers demanded for the ransom amount.
The family members suspect the involvement of one of Jitender's friend and claim that he might have handed him over to a professional gang in Bulandshahr.
The family had recently shifted to their residence in Sector 70 where Jitender had befriended a boy residing in Sector 71. Jitender's parents suspect the friend is behind the kidnapping as his father was in a debt of Rs 5 lakh.
Police teams have been dispatched to places as per the claim made by the family, the DSP said.
Meanwhile in another incident case, a 19-year-old girl has been missing for last 20 days.
Her family members and relatives held a candle march last night demanding the recovery of the girl and alleged that the police was not taking the matter seriously.
On March 1, the girl, who is a call centre employee, had gone to office with some documents but did not return back.
