The maternal grandson of a Bihar finance minister Bijendra Yadav, who was allegedly kidnapped on his way to school on July 1, was today found in the Katarwa village of Madhepura district, a senior police officer said.

12-year-old Manish Kumar was found by the police from a village under Pharahi police station in the district, Madhepura Superintendent of Police Anand Kumar Singh said.

The village is around 8 kms from the district headquarters and the boy is now being brought here by the police, Singh told PTI.

Manish, a student of class VII at N M Public School, Parsa in the Pipra block of neighbouring Supaul district, around 150 kms from Patna, went missing while he was on his way to school after the summer vacation.

Family members searched for the boy and later lodged an FIR with the Kishanpur police station. Manish's father, Parmeshwari Prasad Yadav, is the principal of a degree college in Supaul, while his mother Gita Devi, the minister's daughter, is a former sarpanch of Thumha panchayat in Supaul.

The issue had rocked the state for the past one week with the opposition BJP criticising the state government on the deteriorating law and order situation in Bihar and saying even relatives of ministers were not safe.
