The body of a Meghalaya police constable, who was kidnapped by militants of proscribed Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) more than a month ago, was found buried in a pit in North Garo Hills district today.
District police official said that the pit at remote Ronrong village was located by a search team following information by villagers and the body was dug out in the afternoon.
36 year-old Khomraj Bhattrai, who was posted in East Garo Hills district, was abducted at gun-point near Thapa Darenchi village in North Garo Hills district on November 6 along with Musulu Ali, a resident of Krishnai village in Assam's Goalpara district.

Police suspected that the constable could have been killed on the same day he was taken hostage, the officer said.
The body has been taken to Mendipathar for post-mortem before being handed over to his family tomorrow, he added.
Meanwhile, a wanted GNLA militant surrendered to the police today in North Garo Hills district. He also surrendered a 7.65 mm pistol with live ammunition.
