Kidnapped woman rescued in Assam

A 23-year-old woman, who had been missing since Monday, was rescued from the clutches of her alleged kidnappers in Karimganj district of Assam, police said Wednesday.

An FIR was lodged by the parents of the woman on Monday saying their daughter could have been kidnapped and did not return home at Ujankupa village of Hailakandi district after 1 pm of September 17, said Officer-in-Charge of Hailakandi Sadar police station Surajit Choudhury.

Police immediately began investigations into the charges of kidnapping, Choudhury said.

While on patrolling duty, police on the same day at about 11 pm rescued the woman from the clutches of her alleged four accused kidnappers near Mubarakpur area of Karimganj district on National Highway 37 leading to Tripura, the O C said.

 

The police official said the accused were being interrogated and investigations are on.
