Kidnapping case: 2 cops sent to judicial custody

A local court has rejected the bail plea of two police officers in connection with a five-year-old kidnapping case and remanded them to 14-day judicial custody.

The prosecution today said that the officers Ramtirth and Ashutosh were sent to judicial custody by the court of special chief judicial magistrate M P Singh on Thursday.

23-year-old Najim had gone missing in 2010. Following court's directions, Najim's father Mehrajuddin registered a case of kidnapping against the then police Inspector Ramtirth and SSI Ashutosh on May 27, 2010, the prosecution said.

The youth is still missing, they said.

As per orders of ACJM-4, police had also initiated attachment proceedings against the duo.
 

Ramtirth was presently the Circle Officer, Satarkata Adishthan area in Lucknow while Ashutosh was posted as sub-inspector in GRP in Meerut.
