KIFF is for everybody: Mamata

Asserting that the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) "is for everybody", West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today expressed her happiness with Hollywood movies being screened at different parks of the city under the "paray paray initiative".

"Kolkata International Film Festival is for everybody. It takes the joy of cinema to every neighbourhood, every home. Since Hollywood is the focus this year, we have this Initiative 'paray paray initiative'," Banerjee posted on her Facebook wall this evening.

Incidentally, the organiser of the 21st KIFF, the state government has decided to pay tribute to Hollywood films.

And for the same it has adapted famous logos starting from the 20th Century Fox, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Paramount Pictures to Columbia Pictures in the Kolkata context.
 

"Great Hollywood movies are being screened in neighbourhood parks. We started yesterday with 'Sound of Music' in Harish Park and 'Ben Hur' in Tala Park. This evening we have 'ET' at Deshbandhu Park, 'The Guns of Navarone' at Golf Green, the 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly' at Deshapriya Park. I thought of sharing this with all of you," Banerjee stated.
