Killing of minor: Terminated cop sent to police custody

Terminated police inspector Sanjay Rai, accused in killing of a 14-year-old boy, was today remanded to three-day police custody by a local court.

Chief Judicial Magistrate, Lucknow, Pramod Kumar Tyagi sent Sanjay Rai in the police custody on a plea moved by the police seeking 12-day remand of the accused.

Rai had surrendered on July 15.

On May 29, some people shot dead Maaz at his Indiranagar colony house. Later, two contract killers, Ajit Rai and Rahul Rai, were arrested by the police.

During interrogation, they accused Rai of giving them contract to kill the boy.

After surrendering, Rai also moved bail application which was rejected by the court.
