Kin of CRPF man killed in road mishap to get over Rs 68 lakh

Family members of a 35-year-old CRPF employee, who died in a road accident after being hit by a DTC bus, have been awarded a compensation of over Rs 68 lakh by a Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) here.

MACT Presiding Officer Naveen Arora directed UnitedIndia InsuranceCompanyLtd, insurer of the offending DTC bus, to pay Rs68,69,300 to the five family members of DilipKumar Yadav, who died while crossing road near BRT corridor here in December 2014.

The tribunal, while awarding the compensation, observed, "The petitionersatthisstageoftheirlifehavelosttheir husband/father/son.The loveandcarewhichtheycouldhave gotfromhimcannotbemeasuredin termsofmoney."

While deciding the petition in the favour of the victim, the tribunal relied on the testimony of Yadav's wife and documents placed on record, including FIR, postmortem report, mechanical inspection report andarrest memo.
 

According to the petition filed by the victim's wife, parents and his two minor children, Yadav was crossing road nearBRT corridor close to HanumanMandir on December 24, 2014, when a rashly and negligently driven DTC bus camefromChiragDelhi sideandhithim with agreatforce.

Duetothesuddenandforcefulimpact, Yadav fell down andsustainedinjuries, it said, adding that hewastaken to AIIMSTraumaCentrewherehe died during treatment the same day.

The petition said Yadav, who was earning a monthly income of Rs 36,396 as an employee of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), was the sole bread earner in the family.
