A special team of Kolkata Police (KP) has arrested from Allahabad the kingpin of a racket involved in manufacturing and smuggling of fake Indian currency notes (FICN), a senior officer of the Force said today.

Acting on the confessions by an arrested person, a special team of Kolkata Police visited Allahabad and nabbed the kingpin of the FICN racket yesterday, he said.

The KP also seized FICN of face value of Rs 1.71 lakh, mostly in denominations of five hundred and one hundred, from the man.

The kingpin, he said, used to run a DTP unit during the day and print fake notes late in the night. "We have recovered laptops, pen drives and other printing devices," the police officer said.

"We are trying to find out who are involved in the racket. We are interrogating the man who was arrested from Allahabad," he said.
