Kiran Bedi flags off ocean sailing expedition

Puducherry Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today flagged off the 10 day long ocean sailing expedition at the Thengaithittu harbour here by a team of 30 senior division cadets of naval unit of National Cadet Corps from Puducherry to Nagapattinam.

The expedition was taken up under the banner "Samudri Yatra 2016".

The expedition commanded by 5 (TN) naval NCC unit of Cuddalore under the aegis of NCC Group Headquarters Puducherry is considered one of the most challenging NCC activities of the year.

The team led by Commander M.Ramesh Commanding officer of the naval unit would halt at Cuddalore, Porto Novo, Pazhayar, Tranquebar and Nagapattinam port covering a distance of 336 kms.
 

"It is part of all India competition among the naval NCC units for the Most Enterprising Naval Unit Trophy awarded by Prime Minister during the Republic Day parade', an official source said.
