Haryana minister Kiran Chowdhary, who was recently attacked during an election campaign in Narnaul, today alleged that her political rival Dharambir Singh was behind the incident.

At a press conference at her residence here after being discharged from a hospital in Gurgaon yesterday, she said, "God has saved me otherwise things could have taken a worse turn. They wanted to eliminate me."

She alleged that Singh, a BJP candidate from Bhiwani-Mahendergarh Lok Sabha seat from where her daughter Shruti is seeking re-election, and his brother were responsible for the attack when she was campaigning.

Singh, however, refuted the charge, saying, it could be a ploy on her part to gain sympathy as Congress is "losing badly" in Bhiwani-Mahendergarh area.

Singh, who stepped down as Chief Parliamentary Secretary in the Hooda government and also resigned from the state Assembly, had joined BJP a few days back.

Chowdhary alleged, "The attackers were sent by Singh and his brother and they were seen in suspicious conditions during my election campaign."

The Minister of Excise and Taxation and Public Health and Engineering had suffered injuries on chest and neck in the attack on March 19 when she was campaigning for her daughter, a sitting Congress MP.

On Friday, police arrested three youths for their alleged involvement in the attack.

Shruti, late Bansi Lal's grand-daughter, is seeking re-election from Bhiwani-Mahendergarh parliamentary seat.
