Organised by the state tourism department at the Brigade Parade ground, a kite flying competition was held where the best ones were awarded.

Besides skilled kite flyers, hundreds of locals thronged at the open ground to witness the kites of various hues, shapes and sizes overwhelming the serene blue sky.

A display of international kites was also organised at the venue.

State Tourism Minister Rachpal Singh said it was part of the tourism festival being organised to attract tourists to the city during the Durga Puja which begins this weekend.

Special cruises will begin from tomorrow to give tourists a riverside view of the city from the Botanical Gardens to the famed Dakshineshwar Kali temple.

During the puja, buses will take tourists to different pandals across the city.
