Mayor Sovan Chatterjee said, "Manabrata Chowdhury, Director General of Lighting, Goutam Pattanayak, ex-Director General, and Basab Patra, Executive Engineer have been asked to reply within seven days why they did not follow the norms properly while placing orders to install the trident lamps across the city."
KMC has also stopped the pension of Pattanayak since he was the director general of Lighting department when trident lights were set up as part of the beautification programme for the city.
The officials have been asked to answer within seven days, Chatterjee said.
The civic body has also stopped payment of 20 per cent of the bills of the contractors who installed the lights, officials said.
