"This trade license is applicable for all normal trades and one-time trade license for five years will be convenient both for collection and payment," Municipal Commissioner Khalil Ahmed said here today.
Existing trade licenses, renewal of which was due this month, have been extended for six months and from next year it would be for five years term, he said after attending a meeting of the task force on price rise issue.
Later, briefing the meeting of the task force on price rise issue, general secretary of the Forum of Traders Organisation in West Bengal Rabindranath Koley said potato prices would soon come down before the festival, as cold storage authorities had been asked to release old potato stocks immediately to accommodate fresh yield.
The task force would meet again on September 15 to discuss how to keep prices of fruits under control during festival months.
Even as overall prices of vegetables have come down, the task force would maintain strict vigil over the situation to prevent any price escalation.
Steps were also being taken to contain prices of some essential items like sugar, maida, mustard oil and pulses, Koley said.
