The Kerala High Court today asked the state government to furnish details and other documentary information submitted by Biennale foundation for the sanction of additional Rs four crore for art exhibition Kochi-Muziris Biennale.

The direction in this regard was issued by a division bench comprising Chief Justice Manjula Chellur and Justice Vinod Chandran on a PIL filed by an NGO challenging the grant of funds to the foundation, a private organisation.

The bench pointed out that the direction to furnish details of the expenditure, payment and other aspects had not been complied with despite the court granting over a month's time to the state government.

It also directed the foundation to furnish expenditure details.

The three-month long exhibition was held last year at existing galleries and site specific installations in public spaces and heritage buildings by the foundation.

Controversy erupted after some eminent artists in Kerala raised concern over alleged lack of transparency in the way funds were spent by the foundation.
