Kochi Metro seeks fin aid from AFD for 2nd phase expansion

Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL) today sought financial assistance from French financial institution Agence Francaise de Development (AFD) for the second phase expansion of the Metro project.

The four member AFD team visited construction sites of the Metro project this morning and later held discussions with Kochi Metro officials.

Later briefing reporters, KMRL Managing Director Elias Goerge said they had submitted the expansion plans of the metro from Aluva to Angamally and Palarivattom to Kakkanad.

AFD has already agreed to extend 180 million Euros (Rs 1,500 crore loan to the Metro project. The first instalment of Rs 160 crore would be received by KMRL in September this year.
 

KMRL has also sought assistance from AFD for the monorail project in the state.
