Following the quashing of their detention under National Security Act by the Madras High Court, Dravidar Viduthalai Kazhagam leader Kolathur T S Mani and three others were released from the prison here today.

Besides Mani, Arulkumar, Krishnan and Ambikapathy, were arrested under NSA on November 5, 2012 in connection with the protest at the Income Tax Office in which a kerosene soaked gunny sack was set ablaze and flung inside the Income Tax Office complex in Hasthampatti of Salem district in October last year.

The protest was organised as part of series of events condemning the initial decision of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to attend the Common Wealth Heads of Government meeting held in Sri Lanka. Nobody was injured in the incident.

They were brought under preventive detention in an order dated October 18, 2013, as authorities apprehended he was a threat to maintenance of public order.

A division bench of the Madras High Court had yesterday quashed their detention as Mani and the three others challenged their detention under NSA.
