Over 1000 rural youths in western Maharashtra's Kolhapur district are expected to get jobs this year under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission project being implemented by the Zilla Parishad there.
After help with training and placement, each youth will earn between Rs 70,000 to Rs 80,000 per annum, Kolhapur Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Dr Vijay Suryawanshi told PTI.
Skill and knowledge enhancement are the driving forces of economic growth and social development in the district, the senior bureaucrat said, adding these factors have become even more important given the increasing pace of globalisation.
