Hundreds of people of Koli community today gathered at Bagodara village in the district demanding induction of more ministers from the community in the Gujarat government.

Gujarat Minister Purshottam Solanki's brother and sitting BJP MLA Hira Solanki who organised the rally, said "more ministers from the Koli community should be inducted in the Gujarat government".

However, Purshottam distanced himself from this rally, saying Hira should refrain from such activities.

"We will form a committee of all Koli leaders and pursue this matter with state government. We want that government should induct more ministers from our community. In coming days, we will give a memorandum to the state government about our demands," Hira said.

When asked whether he wanted to become a minister, Hira said he was never in the race.

"My fight is about my community. I am having no personal aspirations to become a minister. Looking at the size of our community in Gujarat, there must be more number of ministers from our community," Hira said.

Purshottam Solanki was inducted recently as Minister of State in the Gujarat government and was given charge of the Animal Husbandary department by Gujarat Chief Minister Anandi Patel.
