Kolkata Police arrests two drug dealers

Days after the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) nabbed drug peddlers from the city, the Kolkata Police has arrested two more drug dealers and seized from them nearly 600 grams of charas.

Two drug dealers Ranajit Dey (60) and Ansar Ahamed alias Mintu (45) were arrested by a team of sleuths from Kolkata Police's Narcotic Cell late last night from a pub in southern part of the city when they were trying to stuck a deal with a prospective buyer, a senior officer today said.

Around 233 grams of charas was recovered from Dey, a resident of Baranagar, while another 348 grams of the same drug was seized from Ahamed, a local from Narkeldanga, he said.
 

"We had a tip-off from our sources and we conducted a raid. The purchaser managed to flee. We are trying to find out who all are engaged in the racket," the officer said adding that the entire seized psychotropic substance has a market approximate value of Rs 60,000.

When produced at a city court, the duo were remanded to police custody till December 21.
