According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Headquarters), Kolkata Police, Rajiv Mishra, senior police officers including ten Deputy Commissioners of Police would be present to stop the Congress workers' march to Nabanna tomorrow.

"We will not allow them to march to Nabanna. All possible arrangements have been taken up for that," Mishra told reporters at the Kolkata Police headquarters here today.

Kolkata Police forces would be deployed at Sealdah, Shyambazar, Khidderpore, Howrah bridge approaching areas from where small processions of Congress activists were scheduled to move to Rani Rashmoni Avenue in central part of the city and from there the activists would march to Nabanna, a senior Congress leader said.

Three DCs would be present at the R R Avenue itself while the force would have water cannons to prevent any untoward incident, he said.

Incidentally, Congress' rally comes after the Left Front peasant bodies' rally to Nabanna last month, where the police had resorted to lathicharge to stop the agitators from marching towards the state secretariat.

Several LF activists including CPI(M) Politburo member Biman Bose and 25 policemen were injured during the incident.
