A road in north Kolkata was today named after the legendary playback singer Manna Dey, the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Bannerjee said.
Banerjee also announced that a road in south Kolkata was also named after the eminent exponent of Tagore songs Suchitra Mitra.
"Manna De and Suchitra Mitra are legendary names in the world of music. As a mark of honour to them, we have named Jorabagan Street as Manna De Sarani and Garcha Road as Suchitra Mitra Sarani," the chief minister said in a facebook post today.

Suchitra Mitra had died at her south Kolkata residence after protracted illness on January 3, 2011 at the age of 86.
Mitra's rendition of Tagore's 'Amar Sonar Bangla Ami Tomai Bhalobasi' during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971, won hearts of millions.
The versatile singer Manna Dey passed away in a Bengaluru hospital on October 24, 2013, at the age of 94.
