A 45-year-old Kosovan national, who had his lower legs amputated, was provided with a free pair of prosthetic limbs by the makers of the famous Jaipur Foot Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayta Samiti (BMVSS) today.

Syl Kodra belongs to Prizren city of Kosava and gets a sum of USD 75 (about Rs 4,500) as monthly pension by the Kosovan government for being a disabled.

He was provided with a German-made artificial limb by his government that cost about USD 15,000 (about Rs 10 lakh).

But the artificial limbs could only last for two years and Kodra needed a replacement which he could not afford.

"He contacted BMVSS and explained his situation to us. After consultation, he with the help of friends managed to come to Jaipur and was provided the Jaipur Foot free of cost," BMVSS Chief D R Mehta said.

A team examined Kodra and after taking measurements, prepared below the knee artificial limbs for both his legs within two days, he added.
