Kotak Bank launches special savings account for elderly

Private sector lender Kotak Mahindra Bank today launched a dedicated savings account offering for the elderly, bundled with services addressing the needs of that age group.

"Data both within our bank and the industry point out that the elderly maintain large bank balances. We also identified their specific needs, around which the product got built," Kotak Mahindra Bank's President for Consumer Banking Shanti Ekambaram said.

She said the product which has been christened 'Grand', would come with features like cash delivery or pick-ups from homes on specified dates of a month as well as discounted offers on healthcare and security products.

West Bengal launches 2-day event campaign on electronic media * The West Bengal government today announced 'Bengal Global Business Summit - Bengal Leads 2015', a two-day event campaign on electronic media.

The state government said it had launched a website and will use social media like Facebook and Twitter to promote the business summit, state Industry and Finance Minister Amit Mitra said.

The summit will also organise B2B and G2B interactions. There will be opportunity for expositions and exhibition as well.

JISL signs pact with Australian agency for R&D in horticulture * Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd (JISL) has signed an MoU with an Australian research and development corporation active in the field of horticulture.

The pact with Horticulture Innovation Australia Ltd (HIAL) will allow researchers from JISL and Australian agencies to undertake joint R&D in horticulture, a statement said here today.

"Mango is an important crop for both countries. However, until now, there has been no formal relationship between the two countries to address key research issues in mango.

"Working collaboratively will benefit both countries as we identify research gaps and potential opportunities," HIAL Director David Cliff said.
