Kovai hospital offers free treatment for 100 stroke patients

City-based KG Hospital today announced free treatment to 100 stroke patients.

The KG Medical Trust would bear the total expenses, amounting to about Rs one crore, to be incurred on treating 100 stroke patients, hospital Chairman Dr G.Bakthavathsalam, told reporters here.

He said the hospital had put in place an exclusive "Stroke Management Team" for the purpose and patients who suffer paralytic attack (stroke) must be rushed to hospital within 2-3 hours.

Sroke is a physical condition in which the blood flow to the brain would be blocked. Numbness or weakness in one side of the body, difficulty in carrying on normal speech, confusion in understanding what others speak, trouble in seeing in one or both eyes, or vomiting sensation without any obvious reasons are among the signs of stroke, he said.
