Kerala PCC President V M Sudheeran, who landed in a thick of a controversy after his visit to Nair Service Society (NSS) headquarters at Perunna, today expressed sadness over the row, saying he had done nothing wrong and was prepared to meet the outfit leader.

Sudheeran's failure to meet NSS General Secretary Sukumaran Nair, when he went to the outfit's headquarters to pay homage to Mannnathu Padmanabhan, founding father of the organisation, on his 'samadhi day' on February 25, has triggered a row.

Nair had termed Sudheeran's act as an 'insult' to NSS, a poweful body of forward Nair community in the state.

Talking to reporters at KPCC office here, Sudheeran said, "It is not my nature to show disrespect or insult anybody... I do not think any laspe had occurred on my part during the visit," Sudheeran said, adding he was sad over the issue.

"I am sure that everything would be resolved once the misunderstanding on the part of Nair is cleared... I would have met Nair had anybody told me," he said.

Sudheeran said he did not meet Nair on that day because the circumstances were not conducive for a meeting.

"I am happy to meet him if he is ready," he added.

He also said he has asked Congress leaders not to make any statements on this issue.

Earlier in the day, Nair criticised Sudheeran's visit to NSS headquarters and said "Mannam Samadhi is not a place for any person to come and go".
