Wearing black badges, members of the Panun Kashmir, an organisation of displaced Kashmiri Pandits, assembled at a migrants camp in Nagrota belt to protest the exodus from their ancestral homeland on this day 23 years ago.
"The secular and democratic model of the Indian nation has remained insulated from J&K and that is why KPs are denied their right to life and limb in Kashmir," said Panun Kashmir chairman Ajay Chrungoo.
Rehabilitation of the community in the Valley was not possible without addressing grievances of the KPs, he said.
"We cannot forget this day as it was on this day the entire KP community was rendered homeless in their own state," said Kuldeep Raina, General Secretary of Panun Kashmir.
