The Krishna District administration has initiated measures to curb excessive use of chemical fertilisers and pesticides by farmers with the guidelines provided by the Centre.
Krishna District Collector Babu A today held a meeting with officials of agriculture department, National Informatics Centre and a vision tech, a technical service provider here where the software to collect details of sale of fertilisers and pesticides by the dealers was finalised, an official release said.
Under the system, every farmer has to provide his Aadhar card, land survey number, nature of the crop and his soil health card to the dealer at the time of purchasing fertilisers and pesticides, it said.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government with the support from the Centre has completed testing of soil health of each acre (in the district) and the same was provided to farmers with detailed information on the crops to be grown in the particular land, fertilisers to be used and other details, the release added.
Based on this information, farmers will be supplied fertilisers by the dealers. Babu said initially about 20 private dealers are identified to implement the project on pilot basis.
And based on the success of this project, the system to be extended to all sellers by the coming Khariff season, he added.
There are 428 Primary Agricultural Co-operative Societies and 570 private dealers in the district selling fertilisers and pesticides.
