The 22-year-old "Twilight Saga" actress will star in the gritty indie movie, penned by "30 Minutes or Less" writer Michael Diliberti, reported Aceshowbiz.
In addition to starring in it, Stewart will also serve as a producer. She will join Diliberti, Craig J Flores and Zev Foreman in her first producing stint.
"Kristen is a talented and dynamic actor, with a proven box office draw. Her role in 'Cali' will be edgy and sexy. It will no doubt push the envelope on the public's view of Kristen's wide-ranging abilities," Flores said.
Stewart will play the female lead Mya who is involved in a dangerous business with her boyfriend Chris.
Set in Los Angeles, the action movie is expected to kick off production in late summer. The project, which is developed at Voltage Productions and New School Media, is still looking for a director. PTI AYM
