KSHR orders inquiry into torture of murder convicts

Kerala State Human Rights Commission today directed its Chief Vigilance Officer to inquire into the alleged torture of T P Chandrasekharan murder convicts in the nearby Viyyur Central Prison on Jan 31.

Member of the KSHR N Natarajan ordered inquiry by its Chief Vigilance Officer S Sreejith, DIG, on the basis of reports submitted by the Viyyur Prison authorities today before the Commission.

Natarajan had visited the prison on February 6 following the allegation of torture in the jail.

Of the total eleven accused awarded life imprisonment, nine were shifted to Viyyur on January 30 from Kannur.

Founder leader of the Revolutionary Marxist Party T P Chandrasekharan was murdered on May 4, 2012 at Onchiyam in Kozhikode District.
 

Report is to be submitted before the Commission in two months, official sources said.
