The Kerala State Human Rights Commission today recommended removal of a woman anganwadi teacher from service after a video clipping showed extreme cruelty on her part towards a three-year-old kid.
"The video clipping shows extreme cruelty on the part of an anganvadi teacher towards a three-year-old student," Commission Acting Chairman P Mohana Das said, taking a suo-motu case against the lone staff of the Anganwadi in Mulanthuruthy area, based on a media report.
A commission release said the child expressed her desire to go to the toilet, which was snubbed by the teacher(aaya) thrice, resulting in her urinating inside the class.
"The teacher got furious over the incident. The child was subjected to extreme physical harassment and she was even sent out from the class."
"If the report is true, the so called aaya should be removed immediately from the school, pending enquiry", the Commission said.
The Commission also took serious note of the report that the anganvadi building, its toilet and premises were in a pathetic condition.
"The toilet is so filthy. Why are these types of anganvadi institutions running? the situation warrants urgent inspection of all similar centres in the state", the Commission said.
