KSIDC to set up 20 incubators by next year end

Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC), the premier Industrial and Investment promotion agency, will be setting up 20 incubators by 2015 end, including five this year, a top official said today.

Of the five incubators, two would be located here and one each in Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Chenganassery in Kottayam district, KSIDC Managing Director, Aruna Sundararajan, told reporters here.

In Kochi, the business incubator would be set up at Infopark at Kakkanad and a technology incubator for food processing at INKEL building at nearby Angamaly while Kerala's first incubator for women will be set up at Assumption College, Changanassery.

The incubator will focus on giving advise to entrepreneurs to start a business, whether to start a Limited Liablity partnership (LLB) partnership company, funding etc, while in the Technology incubator, KSIDC will be tieing up with Coconut Development Board (CDB).
 

The incubator for Women will focus on design and garment making, she said adding the first incubatees have already been identified.

A life sciences incubator park was coming up at Thonnakal in Thiruvananthapuram, she said.

KSIDC has also for the first time decided to set up its Angle fund with a corpus of Rs 10 crore for new enterprises who often do not qualify for bank funding. Non-IT companies would also be considered for the funding, she said.

The corporation would also launch another fund in partnership with Kerala Finance Corporation and High Net Worth Individuals (HNWI) with a volume of Rs 10 crore to Rs 50 crore.
